Human ULK1(Unc-51 Like Kinase 1) ELISA

ULK1 (Unc-51 Like Autophagy Activating Kinase 1) is a protein-coding gene that acts upstream of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase PIK3C3 to regulate the formation of autophagophores, which are the precursors of autophagosomes. ULK1 is part of regulatory feedback loops in autophagy, where it acts both as a downstream effector and negative regulator of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) through interacting with RPTOR. ULK1 is activated via phosphorylation by AMPK while also acting as a regulator of AMPK through allowing phosphorylation of AMPK subunits PRKAA1, PRKAB2 and PRKAG1, resulting in the downregulation of AMPK activity. ATG13/KIAA0652 and RPTOR may be phosphorylated by ULK1; however, more evidence is needed. ULK1 activity is present early on in neuronal differentiation and is also required for the formation of granule cells axons. ULK1 phosphorylates SESN2 and SQSTM1 to control autophagy. FLCN is phosphorylated by ULK1, which promotes autophagy. Acute laryngopharyngitis and retinitis pigmentosa are both diseases linked to ULK1. The autophagy pathway and mTOR signalling are two key pathways affected by ULK1s. Transferase activity, transferring phosphorus-containing groups and protein tyrosine kinase activity is noted as being associated with ULK1 in gene ontology annotations. ULK2 is a paralog of ULK1.
