Human VEGF-A/VEGF121 Recombinant Protein

Human VEGF121 (Vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA)/ Vascular permeability factor (VPF)/VEGF) is a homodimeric, heparin-binding glycoprotein which belongs to the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family. Endothelial cells are the primary target of VEGF-A, which is a glycosylated mitogen that has several functions, including promoting vascular permeability, causing angiogenesis, vasculogenesis, blood vessel permeability and endothelial cell growth, increasing microvascular permeability, encouraging cell migration and inhibiting apoptosis. Spliced transcript variants of VEGF-A may encode either secreted or cell-associated forms. Upregulation of VEGF121 may help the development of lymphatic vessels; which may in turn stimulate VEGF-C activity. Heparin and heparan sulfate, binds to FLT1/VEGFR1 and KDR/VEGFR2 receptors. The brain protein NRP1 binds isoforms VEGF-165 and VEGF-145. The isoform VEGF165B binds to KDR but does not activate downstream signaling pathways; it does not promote angiogenesis and inhibits tumor growth. Human VEGF-A/VEGF121 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
